Field Note
I’m just back from the National Farmers Union Conference in Ottawa and sending this note to thank all of our members for being a part of our farm. We worked hard this year to bring a derelict piece of land into something that now resembles a highly productive vegetable farm. Our soil has turned black as we turned in tons of organic matter and took the red clay soils and added new life. We have probably harvested 200 tons of rock from the fields and another 50 tons of food.
The experience for your farmers to be able to sell their product directly to families and individuals is the reason we choose to farm. We take pride in our product because we know where it’s going and want to offer our customers a way to connect with us in a more meaningful way than just a bar-code. We hope you enjoyed your commitment to Salt & Harrow and we look forward to seeing you all again in 2018!
