We hope you are all keeping dry and getting cozy for the holidays.

First off, a big thanks to everyone who supported us through the 2018 season. It was wonderful meeting all of you and we hope you enjoyed experimenting with all of the fruit and veggies! We are still around at the winter markets (Qualicum Beach, Riley Park, Hastings/PNE), so feel free to come down and say hi.

Because of our wonderful members, the 2018 CSA went so well that we’re increasing our share sizes and offering a more robust membership for the 2019 season. We will now be offering weekly shares, year round, for a full 48 weeks and you can opt in for 12 week increments through to the full year. There will be 2 weeks off for the holiday break and 2 additional weeks off whenever you might need. As before, you can pick up at any one of our markets or at our farm in French Creek (the farm store will be open May 1st – November 1st).  

For our new and returning members, the product page is now open and you are able to purchase your memberships on the website, just in time for Christmas! Memberships will close on May 1st, or when our member limit is reached, and those purchased before April 1st will receive a 5% discount.

Field Note

We are coming to a close on our 4th season in production and, although things have quieted down on the farm, the office work has piled up over the summer and needs to be caught up and spring is already well underway in our minds. We are currently going over next season’s crop plan and have been tearing our way through the new seed catalogs as though they were scientific journals, in awe of the amazing work our fellow farmers have put into developing new strains and resurrecting old ones. The farm might take you down a notch every once in a while but moments like that make you feel as though you’ve been let in on some extraordinary secret.

We are a mere 3 weeks away from dusting out the cobwebs in the propagation house and getting the seeding underway and we’ll soon have a new flurry of baby chicks on our hands. We are also now at a point where we’ve outgrown our fields and need more space for more delicious veggies. For us, expansion is both an exciting and nerve wracking proposition and that will be a whole adventure on its own. Our current farm has commanded much of our energy (and sanity) over the last few years and it will be interesting to see what obstacles, opportunities, or quirks new land will hold.
